To zdjęcie zrobiłam w La Reja, prowincji na obrzeżach Buenos Aires. Tego dnia spotkałam pewną rodzinę. Ojciec był mechanikiem samochodowym – jego córki bawiły się pośród popsutych samochodów. Światło na zdjęciu i wspomnienie ich gościnności, piękno i prostota tego obrazu sprawiają, że nieustannie wracam do tych czasów i pragnę tam wrócić. Pamiętam, że czuli się komfortowo przed moim aparatem – to podbudowało moją wiarę w siebie. Szukam podobnego połączenia z fotografowanymi przeze mnie osobami, kiedy teraz fotografuje.

Anne Ackermann – niemiecka fotografka, mieszkająca w Ugandzie. Jest freelancerką, tworzy własne projekty poruszające takie tematy dotyczące kobiet i ich współczesnych problemów w Afryce.

Była nominowana do Joop Swart Masterclass (2010) i wybrana do Noorderlicht Masterclass (2011). Została laureatką VG Bildkunst Germany (2011/12) i zdobyła pierwszą nagrodę w profamilia journalism award (2012). Jej prace zostały także wybrane do Hansel Mieth Preis (2015). Została także laureatką Photoreporter Festival we Francji. W 2017 roku została International Women Photographers Award i the Jacob Riis Award.

Jej prace były publikowane m.in. podczas New York Photo Festival, PhotoGrafia Festival Rome, Angkor Photo Festival, Belfast Photo Factory and many more. Clients include GEO, Terra Mater, Die Zeit, USAID, Open Society Foundations.

It sounds cheesy but I think I became a photographer in Argentina. I went there for an exchange semester during my studies of Visual Communication and the analoge Nikkormat I carried with me was my only companion in a country where I hardly knew anything, anyone (nor even the language, at least at the b

eginning). I came to know places and people mainly trough my camera and that made me happy like a few things before. Later I also fell in love for real and that feeling lasts till today.

The photo I am sharing was taken in La Reja, a community on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. I met a family that day. The father was a car mechanic and his beautiful daughters played admits all the broken cars. Something about the light, their hospitality and the beauty and simplicity of it all made me wanna stay there forever. They were completely comfortable with me being there and somehow this gave me renewed confidence in myself. I still look for that feeling of connection when I go out to take pictures.
