Clint Woodside
Zdjęcie zrobiłem w 2016 roku, podczas podróży po okolicy, w której dorastał mój tata. Nie wracałem do tej części górnego Nowego Jorku przez 25 lat. Pracuję nad tym tematem już od jakiegoś czasu – jaki wpływ na moje życie ma sposób, w jaki zostali wychowani moi rodzice – oboje z bardzo małych, przemysłowych miasteczek. Około mili poza miastem, zobaczyłem na srodze ślady po poślizgu i w tym momencie, przypomniałem sobie, że kiedy mój tata miał 19 lat, w odstępie 8 miesięcy stracił, w dwóch wypadkach samochodowych, ojca i dwóch braci.
Clint Woodside – pochodzi z miasta Buffalo w Nowym Jorku. Obecnie mieszka w Los Angeles i Filadelfii. Swoje prace pokazywał w Nowym Jorku, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Filadelfii, Chinach, Seulu i Australii. Oprócz fotografii, Woodside jest również kuratorem i założycielem wydawnictwa Deadbeat Club, które wydaje i dystrubuuje książki takich fotografów jak Todd Hido, Ed Templeton, Deanna Templeton, Tobin Yelland, Cheryl Dunn i wielu innych.
This was made in 2016 on a road trip through the area my father grew up in. I haven’t been back in that part of upstate NY for about 25 years. I’ve been working on a body of work for a while about the thread of my life and its connection to the way my parents were brought up, both being from very small, industrial towns. Just a mile or so out of town, I came up on this skid in the road and right away, I thought about the fact that when my father was 19, in the span of 8 months, he lost 2 brothers and his father all in unrelated car accidents.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Clint Woodside currently lives in LA by way of Philadelphia. His work has been shown in New York City, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Philadelphia, China, Seoul, and Australia. Primarily a photographer, Woodside is also known for his extensive work as a curator and as creator of the Deadbeat Club – a publisher and distributor of small books and publications whose diverse roster of photographers include Todd Hido, Ed Templeton, Deanna Templeton, Tobin Yelland, Cheryl Dunn, and many others.
