To zdjęcie jest dla mnie bardzo ważne, ponieważ jest pierwsze z serii, którą zrobiłam kiedy pojechałam po raz pierwszy na front. Stoimy 100 metrów od linii frontu po pro-rosyjskiej stronie wschodniej Ukrainy. Zrobiłam to zdjęcie w listopadzie 2015 roku. Nigdy wcześniej go nie pokazywałam. Kobieta trzymająca broń – dla mnie to sugestywny symbol tej wojny, ponieważ wielu żołnierzy nie jest profesjonalistami – samowolnie ryzykują życie, bez żadnej zapłaty. Dla mnie ich wola walki jest niezwykła, ale naiwna jednocześnie.
Jen Osborne (ur.1984) – kanadyjska fotografka. Jej prace publikowano i wystawiano na całym świecie. Jej kariera zaczęła się w 2007 roku kiedy Jen dostała roczny kontrakt w firmie Fabrica, centrum badań United COLORS of Benetton. Interesuje ją eskapizm – zrobiła wokół tego tematu wiele projektów.
Prace Jen były pokazywane na wielu wystawach m.in.: Visa pour l’Image 2016, Aperture Gallery, The Museum de l’Elysée, the Denver Biennial, Somerset House, The Old Church, Arles 2010 i Studio La Citta. Poza fotografią interesują ją; jazda konna, awangardowe pianino i sztuki walki.
This picture is important to me, because it is from a series when I went to the front lines of a war zone for the first time. This was 100 M from the contact line on the Pro-Russian side of Eastern Ukraine. I took this image in November 2015. It has not been published. The woman holding the weapon seems very symbolic of this war to me – a lot of the soldiers are not professionals – they are volunteers risking their lives for no payment. So their will to fight is quite shocking to me, and it appears as naive to me in many ways.
Jen Osborne (1984) is a Canadian photographer whose work has been published and exhibited internationally. Her career started in 2007 with a yearlong work contract at Fabrica, the United COLORS of Benetton Research Centre. She has an interest in “escapism” and has produced various independent projects around that theme.
Jen has exhibited at various venues including: Visa pour l’Image 2016, Aperture Gallery, The Museum de l’Elysée, the Denver Biennial, Somerset House, The Old Church, Arles 2010 and Studio La Citta. She has interests outside of photography as well, such as horseback riding, avant-garde piano and martial arts.
