Jenny Riffle

This is a photo of my sister Emily in 2013 right after she graduated from Bard College. I have been working on a series of photos of Emily on her birthday since 2005 when she turned 15 years old. Occasionally I will take photos of her at other times, but I have never included them in the series. Just like a birthday, graduating from College felt like an important event and I wanted to make a portrait for that occasion. The birthday series is different from others that I have worked on because it happens slowly over the span of time, and therefore I am not presenting it in any final form yet. At this point I have 12 images up on my website. I have never shown this image because I’m not sure it will belong in this series, I think the edit will evolve over time.
