For the past four years, I’ve been working on an extensive photography project about Polish jails, entitled “Three square meters”. During the final selection process, it turned out that from the enormous amount of amassed material I had to choose a maximum of 20 photos. Many of the photos were hard to eliminate from the final cut. This was one of them, a sketch of a female catechist, who regularly visited the inmates of one of the prisons. It served as a tattoo template for the prisoners.

Marta Kosiorek is a freelance photographer, born in Warsaw, Poland, where she currently lives after spending many years  in the US, Canada, and Mexico. She completed the prestigious one-year Sputnik Photos Mentoring Program in 2014 in Warsaw, Poland. Her long term project about polish prisons “Three square meters”  have been selected  for inclusion in the 2017 Aperture Summer Open in New York and have received KTR 2017 nomination for Best Personal Photography Project .

Przez 4 lata pracowałam nad dużym projektem fotograficznym w polskich więzieniach. Projekt ma tytuł „Trzy metry kwadratowe” . Przy finalnej edycji okazało się, że z ogromnego materiału muszę wybrać maksymalnie 20 zdjęć.  Zostaje więc bardzo trudna decyzja: które zdjęcia odrzucić? I tak z finalnego wyboru odpadło to zdjęcie.  Jest to obrys zdjęcia katechetki, która regularnie odwiedzała więźniów. Docelowo posłużył jako szablon tatuażu.

Marta Kosiorek – fotografka freelancer zamieszkała w Warszawie po wielu latach spędzonych w USA, Kanadzie i Meksyku. Absolwentka Programu Mentorskiego Sputnik Photos 2014r. Jej długoterminowy projekt o polskim więzieniu „3m2” zakwalifikował się do corocznej wystawy Aperture Summer Open 2017 w Nowym Jorku, jak również otrzymał nominacje KTR 2017 jako Najlepszy Autorski Projekt Fotograficzny.
