I went for a long walk, knowing that it was a farewell to a place that I gotto know well and even started to like. Roses in Łada are the last motif I photographed – they came back to Poland in the camera.

On the day this picture was taken, I was to leave Spitak in Armenia – a city which twenty-eight years earlier, as a result of an earthquake, changed into a heap of debris, simultaneously burying a third of its inhabitants. I visited this place four times between 2014 and 2016, once with Filip Springer. Together we made a book about Spitak, in which this picture is not shown, because I forgot about it.

I went for a long walk, knowing that it was a farewell to a place that I got to know well and even started to like. Roses in Łada are the last motif I photographed – they came back to Poland in the camera. I finished the film on a heap in Dębieńsk, and developed it when the book was already in production. I don’t know if this photo would have a chance to be in it, but I like to think that it would.

Róże w Ładzie to ostatni motyw, jaki sfotografowałem – wróciły do Polski w aparacie.
