The session will consist of two parts: a lecture and a portfolio consultation for participants.

Anna Orłowska will talk about the process of creating her projects, including her latest exhibition “Futeral” and the book under the same title. Where do ideas come from? This is one of the basic questions young artists ask themselves. At the meeting, the artist will talk about the sources and hatching of ideas, searching for solutions in the least expected places, the role of research and chance, successful attempts and failures. After the lecture you will be able to consult and discuss your own project.

Anna Orłowska graduated in Photography at the Polish National Film School in Łódź (2011) and at the Institute of Creative Photography at the University of Silesia in Opava (2013). She is the Laureate of the Photo Global scholarship at the School of Visual Arts in New York (2013). Her works were shown, among others, in: the Project Room CSW U-jazdowski in Warsaw, Exile Gallery in Berlin, Panoptikon Gallery in Stockholm, at the International Festival of Fashion and Photography in Hyères (FR), at the Musée de l’Elysée (CH), at the Aperture Foundation (USA) or in Fundació Joan Miró (E). Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2010, 2013, 2017). Nominated for the Discovery Award at the Rencontres d’Arles Festival 2015 (FR), in 2017 she received an Overseas Award at the Higashikawa International Photography Festival (JP). She collaborates with the Wschód gallery.

Spotkanie będzie się składało z dwóch części: wykładu i konsultacji portfolio dla uczestników.

Anna Orłowska opowie o procesie powstawania swoich projektów, w tym najnowszej wystawy „Futerał” i książki o tym samym tytule. Skąd biorą się pomysły? To jedno z podstawowych pytań, które zadają sobie młodzi artyści. Na spotkaniu artystka opowie o źródłach i wykluwaniu się idei, poszukiwaniu rozwiązań w najmniej spodziewanych miejscach, roli researchu i przypadku, udanych próbach i porażkach. Po wykładzie będzie można skonsultować i przedyskutować własny projekt.

Anna Orłowska ukończyła Fotografię w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Filmowej, Telewizyjnej i Teatralnej w Łodzi (2011) oraz w Instytucie Twórczej Fotografii na Uniwersytecie Śląskim w Opawie (2013). Laureatka stypendium Photo Global w School of Visual Arts w Nowym Jorku (2013). Jej prace pokazywane były m.in. w: Project Room CSW U-jazdowski w Warszawie, Exile Gallery w Berlinie, galerii Panoptikon w Sztokholmie, na International Festival of Fashion and Photography w Hyeres (FR), w Musée de l’Elysée (CH), w Aperture Foundation (USA) czy w Fundació Joan Miró (E). Stypendystka Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego (2010, 2013, 2017).
